Blowing my own Trumpet
I'm not the best at singing my own praises (or singing anything really) but I'm proud of what I've achieved in my career to date. I had a terrible time with literacy at school and was told I was never going to succeed. It wasn't until I was 15 that I was diagnosed with dyslexia. I subsequently put myself through polytech and adult literacy courses before graduating from Otago with a silver medal in the prestigous international cooking competition which I entered at the end of my studies. Since those days I've held positions as executive chef in both Sydney and Papua New Guinea and trained chefs in some of the most prestigous hotels.
I'm now working as a Chef Tutor at Aoraki Polytech in Timaru and I love the fact that I am able to help young people learn the trade, especially those who may have struggled as I did!
Family
My family is still firmly attached to the rural farming community of South Canterbury and I'm happy being back close to the land, where I belong. I live in Temuka now with my husband, Malcolm and our tired old dog, Ralph. We're expecting our first child in July this year so I'll be winding things down a little over the winter months but should be fully operational again for the busy Summer. :)
